New offtake agreement with our local partner, Savon Voima Oyj

As the production start date approaches, Joensuu Biocoal is excited to announce that one of our first offtake agreements is with the energy group Savon Voima Oyj. Savon Voima will test the use of biocoal in its smaller power plants for district heating.

Joensuu Biocoal's factory is located next to Savon Voima's 160 MW CHP plant in Joensuu, with all excess heat from our production directed to the City of Joensuu’s district heating network.

As one of Finland’s largest producers of district heating, Savon Voima provides heating to 21 district heating networks in 13 municipalities. We share a common goal with Savon Voima of creating a more sustainable future through renewable energy.
